Woven placemats in sedge, water hyacinth and bamboo

Our woven placemats are handwoven in Thailand from natural plant materials, and most product pages name the material. Sedge is the most common, used for Lana, Lavida, Lalawee, Lalavin, Lavin, RUN CHI TA, WI RA KAN and LAVINLIA. Water hyacinth gives KA NOK PUN, THI PA NAN, YA NI SA, JI RA PREE YA, KA RAN and KO RA WAT their earthy, textured finish. PHIN NA RA, PHAK RA DA and BE LIN DA are bamboo, DOL LA VA is rattan, and MON CHI TA is woven from banana leaf sheath.

Because each piece is woven by hand, small differences in size, weave and tone between placemats are normal, which is worth knowing when you set a long table.

Round and rectangular woven placemats

Round designs measure 30 cm (12 in) across, apart from the more compact YA NI SA at 25 cm (10 in). DOL LA VA doubles as a decorative charger plate, and Lavin has an open weave border. Rectangular designs come in three sizes: 46 x 36 cm (18 x 14 in), 45 x 30 cm (18 x 12 in), and 40 x 27 cm (16 x 11 in) for the bamboo designs. Boho placemats in natural, striped and darker tones

Most designs keep to warm, earthy tones and a textured weave that suits boho, rustic, coastal and modern tables. For pattern, Lavida has a black Khid pattern inspired by the weaving of Northeast Thailand, and Lalawee and Lalavin are striped in natural and dark tones. RA SI TA is a deep dark blue, LAVINLIA mixes blue and natural tones, and Lavila is woven in black with a natural edge. Most placemats are listed one at a time, while BE LIN DA comes as a set of 4 bamboo placemats. Coaster sets of 4 sit alongside them, most 10 cm (4 in) across: WAN NA and FUNDEE in rattan, KA NOK PUN in water hyacinth with a jute edge, PI MA IA in a round shape, and Lavila in black with a natural edge. How to care for woven placemats

Most product pages give the same simple care: wipe with a damp cloth, let the placemat air dry and store it flat so it keeps its shape. RUN CHI TA and WI RA KAN can also be stored gently rolled. LAVINLIA can be spot cleaned and should dry fully before you put it away, with no soaking or machine washing, and the Lavin care notes advise avoiding long exposure to moisture.
