Living room pendant lights in bamboo and rattan

Every shade here is one whose own listing names the living room, living area or living space among the places it suits. Most are natural bamboo. KAN, PALAVEE, PARADEE, JANTA and TAWAN are among the rattan pendant lights in the range, and CHA LA, CHU JAI, NATRALA and NUB DAO mix bamboo with rattan. For a darker accent against a pale ceiling, TEERAYA Black, JUNDARA Black and BLACK CHA YA NAN have a matte black finish, DARA and ARUN offer black as a color option, and TEERAYA Brown is brown. With the bulb on, the open weave casts patterned light across the ceiling and walls.

Choosing a pendant light size for a living room

Measure before you choose: the ceiling height, the width of the coffee table or seating area you want to light, and how far you want the shade to drop. Then compare those figures with the dimensions on each product page. NAT and NATRALA are compact at 17 cm (7 in) across. At the other end, RA MI DA is 46 cm (18 in) across, JAINGAM 45 cm (18 in) and PARADEE 58 to 61 cm (23 to 24 in), and VAREE, 51 cm (20 in) tall, is described as suited to high ceilings or open living spaces. More wide shades are in our large bamboo pendant lights.

Shapes, clusters and statement shades

Shape changes how a ceiling reads. KAN is a rattan moon shape, PALAVEE a rattan star, and DARIN a drop shape with a broad rounded base and a slender neck, while ANNANTRA, JINTRANA and KHE MI KA are elongated. TEERAYA is flexible: you press it into a long or rounded form, and it comes in seven sizes from 35 cm (14 in) to 83 cm (33 in) tall. Many listings, including LAPAS, ANANDA and BOONTA, describe hanging one shade alone or several as a group. Over a long sofa, a row of two or three in one design looks planned, and ANANDA offers four sizes from 18 cm (7 in) to 40 cm (16 in) across for a mixed cluster.

Fittings, cords and bulbs

Each shade comes with its hanging hardware. The cord set and the bulb are sold separately, and no light on this page includes a bulb. You can fit a shade to a ceiling fitting you already have, or add a pendant cord set from our lighting accessories. Most shades list an E27 socket and some list E26 / E27, and the listings suggest a warm white LED or a vintage Edison style LED for a soft glow. Some designs add their own fittings: ESAN comes with an adjustable metal bracket with cord grips, and JUNDARA Black with wooden supports and string for fitting the shade.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on your ceiling height and on what the light hangs over, so measure first and compare with the dimensions on each product page. For a reading corner or a small cluster, compact shades such as NAT and NATRALA are 17 cm (7 in) across. For one statement shade over a seating area, JAINGAM is 45 cm (18 in) across and PARADEE 58 to 61 cm (23 to 24 in). VAREE's listing describes it as suited to high ceilings or open living spaces.

No. Each shade comes with its hanging hardware, and the cord set and bulb are sold separately; none of the lights includes a bulb. You need either a ceiling fitting already in place or a pendant cord set from our lighting accessories. Most shades list an E27 socket and some E26 / E27, and the listings recommend a warm white LED or a vintage Edison style LED bulb.

Yes. Many of these listings describe hanging the shade alone or in a group, including LAPAS, ANANDA, BOONTA, CHA LA and JANTA. Several come in more than one size, such as LAPAS and BOONTA in Small and Large, ANANDA in four sizes and TEERAYA in seven, so you can mix sizes from one design. Measure the space and the drop first, and leave room between shades so each one reads clearly.

TEERAYA Black, JUNDARA Black and BLACK CHA YA NAN have a matte black finish. DARA and ARUN each list Natural or Black as a color option, and TEERAYA Brown has a brown finish. PAT CHA RIN pairs natural bamboo with black accents for a two tone look. For any other design, check the photos and options on its product page, and expect slight color differences because most shades are made by hand.

Switch the light off and let the bulb cool first. The listings suggest dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster, and wiping gently with a slightly damp cloth when needed, then letting the shade dry fully before you switch it back on. Some listings also advise against prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, rain or excessive humidity, so keep shades away from damp spots.
